Catherine Grahmann Gruber, 60, passed away on Tuesday, September 13, 2011 in Houston, TX, after an extended illness. Cathy was born in Houston on June 10, 1951, the second of eight children. She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Marie Grahmann, and her nephew, Andrew Svoboda.
Cathy is survived by her husband, Lloyd Gruber, and her brothers and sisters, Kenneth Grahmann (Mary Catherine), Beverly Svoboda (Danny), Betty Mueller (Darrell), Thomas Grahmann, David Grahmann (Donna), Theresa Pechacek (Larry) and Patricia Thompson (Kenneth).
Cathy is also survived by her nieces and nephews, Kevin, Kraig and Shelley Grahmann, Stephanie Jakub, Joanna Svoboda, Ryan, Derek and Jason Mueller, Amanda and Douglas Pechacek, Emily Thompson, and great-nephew, Zane Andrew. Also surviving Cathy are step-children Lynnette and Peggy Scott and Renee Walker.
The family is especially grateful to Mrs. Lillie Bohner with Home Instead for her tender loving care of Cathy during the last year of her illness. We also appreciate the Vosswood Nursing Center staff and Vitas Hospice staff for their professionalism, care and support of Cathy throughout her illness.
Visitation with the family will be held at Pat H. Foley Funeral Home, 1200 West 34th St. on Thursday, September 15, 5:00 pm – 9:00 pm, with a Rosary at 7:00 pm led by Deacon John Murrell. Funeral services for Cathy will take place on Friday, September 16 at 10:00 am at Pat H. Foley Funeral Home, with Rev. Chris Nagle, Vitas Hospice Chaplain, presiding. The nieces and nephews will serve as pallbearers.
Following a luncheon, Cathy's burial will be held at 2:00 pm at Forest Park Westheimer, 12800 Westheimer Rd. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the charity of one's choice.
