Hall of Fame Professional Football Player. For twelve seasons (1949 to 1960), he played at the offensive and defensive-tackle positions in the All-America Football Conference and Canadian Football League with the Los Angeles Dons and Winnipeg Blue Bombers. Born Robert Porter Tinsley, Jr., he attended Barbers Hill High School (Mont Belvieu, Texas) and played collegiate football at Baylor University. Selected by the Philadelphia Eagles during the 1948 NFL Draft, he began his professional career with Los Angeles of the AAFC and following the league's demise, he joined Winnipeg of the CFL. During the course of his career, Tinsley was a contributor to five Blue Bomber squads which appeared in the Grey Cup (1950, 1953, 1957 to 1959), including two Grey Cup-winning teams (1958 and 1959) and earned All-Star status seven-times (1950 to 1952, 1955 to 1958). He was enshrined into the Canadian Football Hall of Fame in 1982 and was named to the Winnipeg Football Club Hall of Fame in 1984.
