US Congressman. He studied law at the law department of Columbian University Washington, D.C., graduated in 1873, was admitted to the bar and commenced to practice law in Chicago, Illinois. He was a member of the Illinois State House of Representatives in 1883. In 1895, he was elected as a Republican to the Fifty-fourth and Fifty-fifth Congresses and served until his death at age 47.
