George Earl Dauman and his brothers and sisters were the children of German immigrants, Louisa and George Dauman. His father's family immigrated to America in 1868 and his mother's in 1869. They married and settled in Montgomery County, Iowa where George and all of his brothers and sisters were born except for the youngest who was born in Kansas.

By 1900 George's family had moved to Noble County, Oklahoma. George married Mattie Peek in 1905. They had seven children, however, only five survived to adulthood.

Although George completed the draft registration for World War I, he was not called into service. At the time of his registration George was 36 years of age. He and Mattie had five children ranging in age from
1½ to 11 years. His registration form reflects that George was tall and slender and had gray eyes and dark hair. His occupation was given as farmer.

George and Mattie had been married 56 years at the time of her death in July of 1961. Her death was due to a severe stroke in the fall of 1960.
