Phillip Samuel Alston, 46 of Charlottesville, VA departed this life at a local nursing home, on September 16, 2011.

He was born October 28, 1964 in Charlottesville to the late Joseph Johnson and Eliza Jane Edmonds Alston. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by one brother Joe Johnson.

Phillip received his formal education in the Charlottesville Public School System and was an avid fisherman and self-employed car detailer.

He leaves to cherish his memory four brothers Ronnie Edmonds of Bremo Bluff, VA; James and Cathie Alston, Henry and Christine Alston all of Charlottesville, VA; Floyd and Carolyn Alston of Suffolk, VA; one sister Lucy Alston of Charlottesville, five sons Phillip Jr., Brandon, Phillip, Antonio and Christopher; a devoted friend Ada Madison and a host of other relatives and friends.

A memorial service was held Saturday, September 24, 2011 at New Covenant Pentecostal Church, 415 10th Street NW with Bishop William Nowell officiating and Rev. Charles Lewis delivering the Eulogy.

Burial was private.
