Margaret was born the second of three daughters to Antanas and Anna Peculis, Lithuanian immigrants in Mahanoy City, PA. After moving to Brooklyn, NY with her family, she went on to become a stenographer in a radio station where she eventually met her husband, Andrew Laptula. Andy was a writer for the Associated Press but his name was "too Italian" so was changed to Lang at the request of his editors.
Margaret and Andy had three boys: Bruce, Andrew and Ronald, all who went on to be successful and raise families of their on.
Metabolic cancer of the cervix claimed the life of Margaret at age 65, leaving Andy a widower. He passed away in 1989 from congestive heart failure.
