Louis DeSantis, 87, of Kingwood, died Thursday, Jan. 20, 2000, at Preston Memorial Hospital. He was born Feb. 29, 1912, in Masontown, son of the late Pete and Jennie Adams DeSantis. Early in life, he worked at various mines as a coal miner, then was employed at Sterling Faucet Co. before retiring from Mercury Coal & Coke in Bretz. He was a member of the Emmanuel Apostolic Church in Kingwood. He is survived by his wife, Lucille Whitehair DeSantis; two sons and spouses, Joe and Mary DeSantis, of Montrose, and Louie and Lori DeSantis Jr., of Masontown; two daughters and spouses, Jennie and Jim Hileman, of Terra Alta, and Cathy Corley, of Kingwood; a sister, Catherine Pomponi, of New Jersey; 16 grandchildren and spouses, Joey DeSantis, Jimmie Hileman, Kevin DeSantis, Charles R. Hileman, Bobby and Darlene DeSantis, Randy Hileman, Rodney DeSantis, Billy Cavallier, Jason and Angie DeSantis, Junior and Lucinda Lewis, Mike Myer, Glenda DeWitt, Mary Lou DeSantis, Steven Ray DeSantis, Lauren DeSantis, Willie DeSantis; and four great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Rosemary Tripp, Dec. 25, 1973; a brother, Feliece DeSantis, on Feb. 3, 1971; and a sister, Mary DeSantis. Friends may call at Emmanuel Apostolic Church in Kingwood from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday. Service will be at Emmanuel Apostolic Church at 1 p.m. Monday, Jan. 24, with the Rev. Glenn Riggleman officiating. Burial will follow at Masontown Cemetery.
