Civil War Medal of Honor Recipient. Born in Cincinnati, Ohio, he served as a Private in Company H, 54th Ohio Infantry, Union Army. During the Siege of Vicksburg, Mississippi, Private Buhrman was a member of the volunteer storming party in an assault against Confederate batteries on May 22, 1863. He later achived the rank of Sergeant and for gallantry in the face of the enemy, was awarded the Medal of Honor on July 12, 1894.
