Clarence (Cal) Hansen, age 87, died on September 16, 2011, at Bethel Lutheran Home. He was born on August 8, 1924, at Edwards, NY, to Clarence and Mary (Atanasu) Hansen.
He grew up in Edwards, NY. He served in the US Army during WWII. After the service he received a degree in electrical engineering from the University of Illinois. He worked throughout the US as an electrical engineer. They lived in Hill City, SD, before moving to Madison in 1997. He was a 50-year member of the Masonic Lodge.
He married Betty Harris at Champagne, IL, on March 4, 1944. She preceded him in death in 1998.
He is survived by two sons,Edward (Sharon) of Madison, and Mark of Auburn, WA; one daughter, Esther Hansen of Sioux Falls, SD; seven grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren; one brother, Patrick Burkett of Bend, OR.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Walter, and three sisters.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, September 20, 2011, at the First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Sandra Larson officiating. Burial will be in Hill City Cemetery, Hill City, SD. There will be a Masonic Service Monday at the Weiland Funeral Chapel which is in charge.
