World War I British Victoria Cross Medal Recipient. During the First World War, he served as a Captain in the 1st Battalion Coldstream Guards. On September 27, 1918, he was in command of a company detailed to cross the Canal du Nord, France. On reaching the canal, he and his men came under heavy German machine gun fire from a position under an iron bridge on the far side of the canal. Unable to advance, Captain Frisby called for volunteers to follow him forward to secure German post. As he led his men, he climbed down into the canal under point-blank machine gun fire and succeeded in capturing the post with two machine guns and twelve men. For most conspicuous bravery and leadership, he was awarded the British Victoria Cross Medal. He resigned his commission in April 1920 and pursued a career at the British Stock Exchange.
