Boer War Victoria Cross Medal Recipient. He was a doctor, serving as a Lieutenant in the Royal Army Medical Corps, attached to the Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers. On February 24, 1900, at Hart's Hill, Colenso, South Africa, Lieutenant Inkson's column came under a heavy Boer attack. During the conflict under very heavy fire, he carried an officer who was severely wounded and unable to walk, for three or four hundred yards, to a place of safety. For bravery in action, he was awarded the Victoria Cross Medal in May, 1902 and later achieved the rank of Colonel.
