British Superbike Racing Champion. Hislop was born January 11, 1962, in Hawick, Scotland. A member of the Monster Mob Ducati Superbike Racing Team, he rode a Ducati 998 RS Motorcycle, winning several championships and honors. Among his championship races are, winning the 1990 Crown at the British 250cc, winning 11 races in total at the Isle of Man TT including one in 1994, and in 1995 he won the British Superbike Championship. In 2000 he suffered a broken neck during a Championship Race at Brands Neck, and in 2001 at Rockingham he suffered a setback when he crashed into title rival John Reynolds at a high rate of speed and then into a concrete retaining wall suffering a broken leg, ankle, and collar bone, which cost him the title. Also known as a 'wild card' racer, he often appeared as the World Superbike Races, upsetting the international stars on there home turf. On June 2, 2003, Hislop released his autobiography entitled, "Hizzy: The Autobiography Of Steve Hislop" which he co-wrote with Stuart Baker. On July 30, 2003, at the age of 41, he was killed in a helicopter crash at a remote farm near Teviothead, Scotland, while en-route from England.
