Author. Although she was successful for writing outdoors boys adventure stories and novels, her most widely read and popular work was the historical fiction short story "The Perfect Tribute" (1906). The story, which depicted a fictionalized account of President Abraham Lincoln creating and delivering The Gettysburg Address and the after-results, was published first in "Scribner's Magazine". It later gained such popularity that it was republished as a stand alone work, which sold thousands, and became basis of the modern historical myth that President Lincoln hastily wrote the speech on the train to Gettysburg (he actually started crafting it before the trip). In 1935 the story was adapted into a short film and in 1991 it was adapted into a television movie. After "The Perfect Tribute" became successful Mary Raymond Andrews wrote a number of popular historical novels. She published twenty books before her death in 1936.
