Hilda M. Owens, 89
Hilda M. Owens, 89, 410 Tioga Road, died at 12:50 a.m. Monday, Sept. 10, 2001, at Twin Lakes Village, Monticello. She had been a resident there for 1½ years.
She was born in Carroll County on Aug. 2, 1912, to Wilbur W. and Myrtle M. McClellan Andrews. She married Eathel Leroy Van Meter Owens in White County on July 2, 1936. He died on Oct. 30, 1984.
She lived in White and Carroll counties all of her life.
She worked at Bryan Manufacturing for 20 years and retired in 1974.
She was a former member of the First Presbyterian Church, Monticello.
She enjoyed gardening, latch hook, crocheting and collecting dolls.
She is survived by two sons, George L. Owens and Roger W. (Judy) Owens, both of Monticello; three daughters, Virginia R. (Thomas) Jones of Ogallala, Neb., Marilyn A. Weihermiller of Charlotte, N.C., and Carolyn M. (Robert) Garriott of Oxford; a sister-in-law, Pauline Andrews of Idaville; 17 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Two brothers, George and Harold Andrews, a sister, Gladys M. Rowe, and a half-brother, Robert Nicholas, are deceased.
Visitation will be today from 4-8 p.m. at Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Burial will be at Hughes Cemetery, Monticello.
Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of Monticello, the Apostolic Tabernacle in Lafayette or to the donors' choice.
