Businessman. He arrived in California on October 20, 1852 with $20.00 in his pocket and worked for farms wages. Later he bought land in Centerville and quickly began to achieve his status as a millionaire, vast land owner and one of The Valley's greatest philanthropists. A successful land owner, in 1868 he purchased Rancho Tularcitos in what is now Milpitas, California. Today there are historical exhibits in the Higuera adobe which can be visited by special arrangement with the city. "Rags to Riches" is his biography.
