Charles was born on July 28, 1918 in Grayson County, Va., to Charles Polk and Olive (Delp) Graham. After graduating from high school, Charles honorably served his country in the United States Air Force and had a military career of 28 years. During his service to his country during World War II, he was a POW in Japan for 3 ½ years. Following his military career, he owned a hotel in Sterling, Va., and later retired to Fairfield Bay, Ark., before coming to Beaver Dam. On Oct. 26, 1991, he was united in marriage to Shirley Marshall in Rogers, Ark. Charles was a lifelong member of the V.F.W., American Legion, Lions Club, Rotary Club and American Defenders of Bataan and Corregidor.
Charles is survived by his wife, Shirley.
Charles is preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Patricia and other relatives.
A memorial service for Charles will take place at a later date in Fairfield Bay, Ark., and internment will take place at Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, Va.
