US Congressman. He attended public schools, studied law, was admitted to the bar 1851 and commenced to practice law in Lake City, Florida. As a judge of the probate court of Columbia County, he successfully contested as a Democrat the election of Josiah T. Walls to the Forty-second Congress and served from January 29 to March 3, 1873. An unsuccessful candidate for reelection, he ran farming operations and engaged in the practice of law until his death at age 57.
