Professional Football Player. For nine seasons (1960 to 1968), he played at the linebacker, fullback and punter positions in the Canadian Football League with the Ottawa Rough Riders and Winnipeg Blue Bombers. Born James Joseph Conroy, he was raised in Southern California where he attended Baldwin Park High School. While at the University of Southern California, he was a two-sport athlete excelling in baseball and football. As a member of the football team, he captained their 1957 squad. A pitcher with the Trojans baseball team, he was a contributor to their 1958 Collegiate World Series title coached by Rod Dedeaux. Selected by the Buffalo Bills during the 1960 American Football League Draft, Conroy would begin his professional career in the CFL. During the course of his career, he was a contributor to two teams which appeared in the Grey Cup Finals (1960 and 1966 Rough Riders), including the 1960 Grey Cup Champion Rough Riders' squad, earned All-Canadian selection twice (1962 and 1963) and All-Star honors in 1966, as he played in 110 regular season games. Following his football career, he worked as a civil engineer and a municipal administrator.
