PONTZER.--Anna Kathryn Pontzer, age 95, formerly of 101 North Mill Ave., Ridgway and 10 Olive Ave., DuBois died Thursday morning at Christ the King Manor, DuBois. Born August 3, 1916, in Steubenville, Ohio, she was a daughter of the late Francis Glenn and Ruth A. Miller Pontzer, Sr. She had lived in Ridgway for several years and DuBois for 38 years. She was a 1933 graduate of Johnsonburg High School and a 1937 graduate of Penn State University, where she earned a master's degree. She taught at Penn State University and served as dean of women. She had also been a school teacher in the DuBois Public School System for 40 years. She was a member of St. Leo Magnus Roman Catholic Church in Ridgway and St. Catherine of Siena Roman Catholic Church in DuBois. She was a member of the Ladies Rosary Society at St. Catherine, Pennsylvania Retired Teachers Association and AARP. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Her closest surviving relatives include eight cousins: Margaret (James) Lockwood of Brockway, Clyde Miller and Kenneth Miller of Ridgway, Thomas Pontzer of Ridgway, Cleva (Marlin) Hartman of Indiana, Mary Jane (Clifford) Haight-Eckert of Escondido, California, Tony Mortimer and Jonathan Mortimer. She was also preceded in death by an infant brother, Francis G. Pontzer Jr., and cousins, Bertha Haight, Eloise Mortimer, Eugene Miller and Trudy Kastner.

PONTZER: Anna Kathryn, formerly of N. Mill Ave., Ridgway, died Oct. 6, 2011. Friends will be received from 4-6 p.m. today at the Thompson Funeral Home in Ridgway. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Leo Catholic Church, Ridgway, with the Rev. Fr. Brian E. Vossler, celebrant. Burial will be in St. Leo Cemetery in Ridgway. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
