*Civil War Veteran

Company C
Enlisted: April 22, 1861
Discharged: October 4, 1864
Prisoner of War: May 3, 1863, Chancellorsville, Virginia
Promoted to Sergeant
Re-enlisted: December 31, 1863

Edward Crofoot
International Genealogical Index (IGI)
Father: Luther Crofoot
Mother: Catherine De Graff

Further investigation:
While Cook/St. Epis. Cemetery has a E.J. Crofoot listed as a war veteran in their records I feel this is wrong. Their records do not indicate anything than just E. J. Crofoot died 1911.

There is a Philip Crofoot (d. 1902) buried right next to E.J. Crofoot (d. 1911). He is a Civil War veteran according to dept. records and upon research his wife was Eliza Jane Crofoot. Also according to Michigan Death certificates both Philip and Eliza are buried in Taymouth MI. or the St.Epic. cemetery. As St. Epic is located in Taymouth I feel that these two people are the ones buried in the Cook/St. Epic Cemetery.

There are no record of an Edward Crofoot in the Taymouth area. There is a possibility he is buried in the Indian Cemetery of Taymouth or in an unmarked grave but I have not found these records as of yet.

Also there are quite a few Crofoots in the Cheasaning area so he may be buried in that area.
