West Virginia Governor. Served as the Governor of West Virginia from 1901 to 1905. Also served as a Delegate to the Republican National Convention from West Virginia in 1924.

If appropriate, I have created a bio that is more in-depth to take the place of what is written above:

Albert Blakeslee White was born September 22, 1856 in Cleveland, Ohio. He matriculated at Marietta College, graduating in 1878 as valedictorian of his class. On October 2, 1879 he wed Agnes Ward in Marietta, Ohio.

The couple moved to his father's home in Lafayette, Indiana where Mr. White became the managing editor of the "Daily Journal." After three years, the couple moved to Parkersburg, WV where Mr. White continued in journalism. In 1883, he began the issuance of a daily paper that became a literary and political power in the state.

President Benjamin Harrison appointed Albert White as collector of internal revenue for the district of West Virginia in 1889, and he was again appointed to that position by President William McKinley in 1897. During his time in that position, he established a State Tax Commission.

In 1900, he was elected Governor, serving in that position for one term from 1901 to 1905. In 1907, he was appointed to be the West Virginia Tax Commissioner for a period of two years. He favored placing more of a tax burden on corporations than on individuals. He was again appointed to that position, serving from 1921 to 1925. In 1924, he served as a Delegate to the Republican National Convention from West Virginia.

Mr. White served in the West Virginia State Senate for the 3rd District from 1927 to 1931. He also served on the State Board of Education for ten years. From 1909 to 1912, he was designated as "Parkersburg's Most Useful Citizen."

Upon his death, he was survived by his wife, Agnes Ward White, and their children: Grace Rolston White, Katherine Vaughan Wolfe, Ethel Sabin Hiteshew and Ward E. White. A second son, Albert, predeceased him.
