Charles Leon Bard, 48, of Mount Union died unexpectedly Sunday, July 20, 1975 at 9:15 a.m. while participating in the Park Hill Golf Tournament at Altoona. Death was attributed to a heart attack.
Bard was born in Mount Union on October 18, 1926, a son of Charles E. and Martha (Norris) Bard. He was united in marriage to Lois J. Klingler on October 25, 1948.
Surviving are his wife and one son, Charles of Mount Union, and his mother Mrs. Martha Bard of Mount Union. Two brothers and two sisters also survive: Mrs. Andrew (Janet) Kurey and Mrs. Robert (Betty) Fleming, both of Mount Union; Sheldon L. Bard, Buffalo, N.Y. and Herman (Skip) Bard, Colonial Park, Harrisburg.
One brother, Fred, preceded him in death.
The deceased was of the Protestant faith. He had attended Mount Union High School and served for 26 months in the U. S. Navy during World War II.
Bard was employed by the Mobil Oil Company for 26 years, serving 18 of those years in Woodbury, N.J. and seven and a half years in the countries of Libya and Saudi Arabia.
He was a member of the Paulsboro F.&A.M. Lodge no. 262, and belonged to the American Legon at Mount Union.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 23, at 10:30 a.m. from the Heath funeral home, Mount Union. The Rev. David B. Reams will officiate and interment will be made in the Mount Union I.O.O.F. Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home between 7 and 9 Tuesday evening, and from 9 a.m. Wednesday until the hour of the services.
