Convicted Murderer. An anti-abortion activist, on July 29, 1994, he murdered Dr. John Britton and his bodyguard, James Barrett, because the doctor performed abortions at the Ladies Clinic in Pensacola, Florida. In a high-profile case, he was convicted of murder and sentenced to death, which occurred on September 3, 2003, when he was executed by lethal injection at Florida State Prison, Starke, Florida. He made numerous unrepentant statements prior to his execution, which the press reported widely and added to his notoriety.
