Philippine Insurrection Medal of Honor Recipient. He was a Private serving in Company A, 43rd United States Infantry, United States Volunteers, on May 6, 1900, at Hilongas, Leyte, Philippine Islands when he earned his Medal. His citation reads: Charged an occupied bastion, saving the life of an officer in a hand-to-hand combat and destroying the enemy. He was awarded his Medal on March 11, 1902. He later rose to the rank of First Lieutenant.
