Glenn Lester Criger was born in Elkhart, Elkhart County, Indiana, the son of Lou Criger and Belle Louise Wolhaupter Criger. He grew up in Elkhart and lived there until he married. He lived in Michigan until the time of his early death.
Glenn was in the Army and while on leave from the service, he was in Lansing, Michigan and met his future wife, Virginia Cousins. His best friend in the Army was Joel Cousins, who was Virginia's brother. Joel introduced his sister Virginia to Glenn and a romance developed. They married February 9, 1929 in Detroit, Michigan and their first daughter Louise was born in Lansing, Ingham, Michigan. Virginia was expecting their second child when Glenn contracted polio and died in 1931. Glenn Lester Criger is buried in the Evergreen Cemetery in Lansing, Ingham, Michigan.
From a letter written by Robert Taylor Criger (Glenn's brother) to Kenneth Lavern Criger (son of Andrew Jackson Criger) in September of 1970, Robert Criger mentions Glenn's death from polio at 28 years of age. Glenn and Virginia's second daughter, Lois Ann was born 2 months after the death of her father,in July of 1931. In time, contact was lost with the Criger families in Arizona, as Glenn's wife Virginia had remarried and moved and one of the letters sent by Thora Young Criger was returned, marked "no forwarding address." In later years, Thora's oldest daughter did a search and found Glenn's daughter, Lois Ann Criger Faggion, who was still living in Lansing, Michigan.
Several years after her first husband, Glenn Criger had passed away, Virginia next married Forest Pennell, in January of 1933 and they were the parents of four children:
William Forest, John Leslie, James LeRoy and Barbara Elizabeth Pennell.
