United States Senator. Born in Pennsylvania to Thomas Whiteside, not much is known of his early life. He practiced law in his home state and was admitted to the court bar. Later on, he moved to Knoxville, Tennessee and continued studying law there. In 1801, he served as a commissioner of Knoxville. He served this position for the remainder of that year and a portion of 1802. In 1809, the Tennessee General Assembly voted Whiteside to the United States Senate. He served in the Senate until 1811 when he resigned to continue his studies of law. He passed away around the age of 50 in Nashville, Tennessee.
