Oro Fino is just next door to Fort Jones which are all in Scott Valley. After gold mining in the Siskiyou Mountains, Rosa's parents moved from Oro Fino to Calistoga to retire as it was known for its healing waters. They lived at 1322 Berry Street in Calistoga. Americo was working at a general store in the Calistoga area which is where he met Rosa. Rosa's parents didn't want her to marring "an Italian" so they sent her to Stockton Normal. Of course Americo followed her there and they got married anyway. They married in Stockton on October 15, 1914. They had a rough marriage and got divorced but remarried in Oakland on her birthday in 1921. Americo had a job on Mare Island so they moved to Vallejo. From 1921 to 1924 Rosa had many miscarriages up to #11 which was Thomas.

According to the city papers a marriage license was issued last Saturday to Americo L. Tomasi and Miss Rose Macaulay, and it is presumed the wedding ceremony was performed shortly thereafter. These people were married once before, but agreed that they could not agree and a divorce followed. Their many friends in these "neck of the woods" will be glad to know that they have become reconciled.

She died from a series of strokes.
