Professional Hockey Player. Gardiner played the position of goalie for teams in the National Hockey League (NHL), and the Canadian Hockey League (CHL). He played for the Winnipeg Maroons from 1925 to 1927, and the Chicago Blackhawks from 1927 to 1934. He won the Vezina Trophy in 1931 to 1932, and 1933 to 1934, won the Stanley Cup in 1934, and was a member of the NHL All-Star First Team from 1930 to 1934, and a member of the NHL All-Star Second Team from 1932 to 1933. His
career and life were cut short when he passed from a Brain Tumor at the age of 29. Gardiner was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1945.
