The son of Henderson Burns Dobbins and Sarah "Sallie" Ann (Jenkins) Dobbins, born in Lampasas County, Texas in 1873.

On 8 Jun 1896 Henderson married Amanda Melissa Read. According to the 1900 Federal Census, Henderson and Amanda were living in Lampasas County, Texas with one son, George M Dobbins, born March 1899. They had another son born earlier, 1897, Milton Clarence Dobbins that died in 1898.

By 1910, the Dobbins family had moved to Lincoln County, New Mexico. The family had grown to six children. They lived there on a farm.

In 1920 the census shows the family now in Jefferson County, Oklahoma now with five children in the household. Henderson and his son Blye were listed as wage-earning laborers. His neighbor at this time was his eldest son, William Montgomery Dobbins. By the next year, William and his family had moved to Polk County Arkansas.

Only five years later, at the age of 51, according to his death certificate, he died in Haskell, Muskogee, Oklahoma, and his body was sent for burial to Mena, Polk County, Arkansas. The informant on his death certificate was his son, William Montgomery Dobbins, whose address was shown on the certificate as Egger, Arkansas.
