'After a short illness of a few days' duration W.H. Belfield died at his home in the Southwestern part of town, Sunday. Deceased was about 32 years old and pneumonia was the disease that took him off. The remains were shipped to Rush Center for internment. Deceased was a fireman on the Santa Fe branch and leaves a wife and child.'

Alfred Belfield (1822–1886) born in Maryland (his parents were Henry H. Belfield and Cynthia Wharton), moved to Rush Co., Kansas and settled there with his family.

Maria Johnson (1829–1911) born in Ohio (her parents were Hope Inskeep of Philadelphia and William Johnson of Virgina). They married in Harrisburg, Iowa.

She married a boy from a family who had also migrated from Pennsylvaia. Michael Krause, Abt 1886, near her home. They had two children. Minnie Mae Krause (1886–1969) who married Charles Brown Ater (1873-1907), and Jesse Krause (sources differ as to her date of birth 1886 or 1887-1888) Mary "Mae" E. Belfield died about the same time as Jesse Krause.

Jesse, her baby, died shortly after birth.
