Ms. Tanya Carson, 55, of Indianapolis, was a graduate of Shortridge High School. She then went on to accomplish several degrees to include, a Bachelor of Science from Martin University, Master of Science from Colorado University, and a Doctorate of Business from Belford University. She was preceded in death by her mother, the Honorable Julia M. Carson. She is survived by her son, Congressman André Carson (Mariama); granddaughter, Salimah; father, Sam Carson (Virginia); brother, Sam M. Carson, III; aunt, Gwen Woodruff; great-aunt, Nina Brown; nephew, Sam M. Carson IV; niece, Ja'Dawn Carson; good friend, Gloria Norman; and a host of other extended relatives and friends. A funeral service will be held October 31, 2011 at the Crown Hill Memorial Chapel of Crown Hill Funeral Home, with visitation there prior to the service. Burial is in Crown Hill Cemetery.
