Entertainer. International Star of Cabaret who began her Broadway career as a dancer in "Shuffle Along," a 1921 Sissle and Blake production. She was a member of an elite chorus line which also included Florence Mills, Fredi Washington, Maude Russell and Josephine Baker. In 1923, she also starred in another Noble Sissle-Eubie Blake revue entitled "Runnin Wild" and taught actor Rudolph Vallentino the "charleston" dance step. She brought attention to her vocal skills when she sang a wordless countermelody to Duke Ellington's "Creole Love Call" in 1927. This recording has been known to be on of the first examples of improvised "scat" singing. Ms Hall also performed with Fats Waller, Art Tatum, George Shearing and Cab Calloway. In 1928 she co-starred with Bill "Bojangles" Robinson in Lew Leslies "Blackbirds." In the mid 1930s she resided in Europe and starred at the Moulin Rouge in Paris and performed at the West End in London.
