Cathie Bowers Victim of Polio; Funeral Here This Afternoon

Funeral services will be held this afternoon, Thursday, for 5-year-old Cathie Ann Bowers, daughter of Capt. and Mrs. Don M. Bowers of Coralville, Iowa, who passed away about 3:00 a.m. Tuesday at University Hospital in Iowa City.
There will be a prayer service at 1:30 p.m. at the Earl McMaster home, with funeral services at 2:00 p.m. at the Methodist Church in Lime Springs. The pastor Leroy E. Bauman will officiate. Burial will be at Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
Cathie was a victim of poliomyelitis, and had been ill only since Friday when it was noticed that she had a fever. She was hospitalized early Monday morning, death occurring less than twenty-four hours later.
Mr. and Mrs. Earl McMaster and Mrs. Winnie Bowers were called to Iowa City Sunday morning.
Cathie Ann was born January 19, 1944, at Freeman Air Force Base, Seymour, Ind. The past eleven months have been spent with her parents at Coralville, Iowa, two miles west of Iowa City. Her father is enrolled in the University of Iowa college of commerce in undergraduate work of the civilian institutions branch of the Institute of Technology of Wright-Patterson Air Force Base.
Surviving Cathie are her parents, one sister, Sharon Lee, age 11, 3 grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Earl McMaster and Mrs. Winnie Bowers, her great grandmother, Mrs. Martha McMaster, two aunts and two uncles, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Galvin and Mr. and Mrs. Keith Johnson, all of Lime Springs.
The heartfelt sympathy of the entire community is extended to the sorrowing relatives.
