Funeral services for Joyce LaFrance Tipton, 88, of Lamesa will be held Monday, June 11, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at Second Baptist Church with Pastor Pat Githins officiating. Interment will follow in Aspermont Cemetery under the direction of Branon Funeral Home. Visitation will be held Sunday, June 10, 2018 from 3:00-5:00 p.m. at Branon Funeral Home. Joyce passed away Thursday, June 7, 2018 in Lamesa. She was born January 30, 1930 in Wellman to Davis and Verda (Shelby) Smith. Joyce married the love of her life, R.W. Tipton January 8, 1947 at the First Baptist Church Parsonage in Hamlin, TX. They were married for 71 years and 5 months. She was a homemaker, and a nurse for 20 years. She and R.W. lived in Andrews for 50 years and in Lamesa for 25 years. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother and she loved family gatherings. She was her great-granddaughter's number one fan and enjoyed cheering for and watching her participate in sports. Joyce was a talented seamstress and enjoyed crocheting. She was a member at Second Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School and loved her Sunday School family. Joyce is survived by her husband, R.W. Tipton of Lamesa; children, Judy Butler and husband, Ron of Lamesa, and Tracy Tipton of Brownwood; sister, Lydia Currie of Latexo; grandchildren, Calli Ruiz and husband, Steve of Lamesa, Jamie Pierce and wife, Chalyne of Lamesa, Chris Pierce of Lamesa, Raymond Tipton and wife, Lisa of Brownwood, Eric Tipton and wife, Karrie of Snyder, and Jared Tipton and wife, Stephanie of Brownwood; great-grandchildren, Tyler, Madisyn, Keelie, Taygan, Charlize, Chloe, Adam, Lauren, and Haley; and 4 great-great grandchildren. Joyce is preceded in death by her parents; son, Davis Ray Tipton; sisters, Jacquetta MacAulley, and Willene Squires; and brother, Darrell Smith.
