William L. Knisely, 59, of Franklin Street, Waynesburg, formerly of Jefferson, died at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 24, 1983, in Washington Hospital following a three-month illness.

He was born July 20, 1923, in Holbrook, a son of James H. and Myrtle E. Roberts Knisely. His wife, Laura Ankrom Knisely, died in 1982.

Mr. Knisely was a retired coal mine construction worker and maintenance worker for Greene County. He was a Protestant and veteran of World War II, having served with the U. S. Army.

Mr. Knisely was a member of James Farrell American Legion Post 330, Waynesburg; Greene County Chapter 123, DAV; Waynesburg VFW Post 4793, and Waynesburg Eagles Club.

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Ronald (Diane) Virgin and Miss Linda Knisely, both of Vermilion, Ohio; one son, William L. Knisely Jr. of Fredericktown; seven grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Glenn (Cleo) Zollars of Jefferson; and three brothers, Wesley Knisely of Jefferson, Robert Knisely of Waynesburg R. D. 1 and Wayne Knisely of Mather.

In addition to his wife, one sister, Evelyn Swaniger, and three brothers, Howard, James and Clarence, also are deceased.

KNISELY - Friends of William L. Knisely of Franklin Street, Waynesburg, formerly of Jefferson, who died Tuesday, May 24, 1983, will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday in the Behm Funeral Home Inc., Route 188, Jefferson, where services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, May 27, with the Rev. Charles K. Sowden officiating. Burial in Jefferson Cemetery.
