Hamilton County Register, Friday, December 26, 1919
"Mrs. Chesley Taylor
Eliza Margaret Matthews was born in Clarks county, Indiana, March 1, 1850. When she was twenty-one years of age she came to Saline county, Nebraska with her parents, where she resided near Wilber, Nebraska, until eight years ago when she moved to Giltner, Nebraska, her age being 69 years, 9 months and 15 days at the time of her death. In childhood she united with the Baptist church but the last twenty years has been a member of the Church of Christ.
In 1872 she was married to Chesley Taylor and to this union six children were born, three girls and three boys. The boys, George, James and Emory died in infancy.
The husband and three daughters, Martha Emmeline of Giltner, Mrs. Bertha Magnuson of Wilber, Nebraska and Mrs. Lulu Collicott of Gilette, Wyo., two granddaughters, Mrs. Erma Zwonecek and little Hallie Collicott are left to mourn her loss. Also three sisters and two brothers, Ira Matthews and Mrs. Laura Artist of Benkleman, Nebraska and Mrs. Sirila Wheeler of Akron, Colo, who were present and Mrs. Harriett Collicott of Swanton, Nebr., and Joe Matthews of Michigan who were unable to come.
She was a faithful wife and a loving mother to her children and sister-mother to her younger brothers and sisters. Besides her many relatives she has a host of friends both here and at her former home who will be saddened to hear of her death, but who with her loved ones will feel that "earth's loss is heaven's gain".
Funeral services were held at the Methodist church Saturday afternoon at two o'clock, Rev. Davies of the Christian church in charge. Burial in Giltner cemetery."
