She was born March 8, 1927 at Maidsville,WV , the daughter of the late Leo and Jessie Carpenter Shinaberry.
Mattie was a member of the Granville Methodist Church and a former employee of Morgan Shirt .She also was a member of the VFW Post 9916 Ladies Auxiliary.
Mattie enjoyed cleaning, but most of all she enjoyed her family and grandchildren
She is survived by her husband of 64 and a half years Everett Griffin, her daughters and their husbands Charlotte and Pat Murphy of Slippery Rock, Pa., Linda and James Propst of Morgantown, Marlene and Scott Henckel of Bruceton Mills and Hope and Greg Burns of Morgantown. She is also survived by 2 sisters Audrey Ryan of Westover and Thelma DeMasi of Agawm , Mass., a sister in law Rose Shinaberry of Morgantown as well as 10 grandchildren and 20 great and great great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Mattie was preceded in death by her brother Charlie Shinaberry.
Friends may call at the Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home on Sunday, March 6, 2011 from 3-5 and 7-9pm and again Monday from 10am until the time of services at 11am. Burial will follow in Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens.
