Carola Ontiveros, age 73, passed away on November 8, 2011 in Salt Lake City, Utah

She, "Carrots" as her mom would call her, was born October 27, 1938 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Ruben and Clotilda Gomez.

She married Seth Tulio Ontiveros on June 7, 1956 and was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple on April 13, 1961.

Carola was a devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and great-grandmother who loved to serve her family and friends. As a young woman, she enjoyed playing sports and was a terrific shortstop. She was a wonderful "second" mom to her siblings.

She loved to dance and go to the local dance hall with Seth. She was a great cook and many of her children's friends would come over to enjoy her chicken tacos, homemade tortillas and tamales.

Mom had a warm kind heart and was always serving in her own special ways. Christmas time was her favorite time to help those in need. On Christmas Eve, Mom and Dad would go around and drop off her secret Santa Sacks.

She is survived by her husband, Seth Tuilo; four children: Felipe (Jackie), Cindy (Lee) Monsen, Jose, and Raul (Karri), sixteen grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, five brothers, and a sister. She was preceded in death by her parents Ruben and Tilly and brother Ruben Michael Gomez.

We would like to thank the doctors and nurses at Salt Lake Regional ICU and Promise Hospital, especially nurse Amber who cared and made our mother's final moments comfortable. We love you Mom.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 12, 2011 in the Mountain View Second Ward Chapel, 1400 South 1900 East, Salt Lake City, Utah. Friends and family may visit from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, November 11, 2011 at Memorial Estates Mortuary, 5850 South 900 East, and 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. on Saturday at the church.
Interment will be in the Holladay Memorial Park Cemetery, 4900 South Memory Lane (1990 East).
