The remains of Joseph Kaufmann arrived from Hazelton, N. D., Wednesday night and were taken to the Paetznick undertaking parlors.

Deceased has resided in the vicinity of Ferney for a number of years and was a citizen of sterling worth. Since the death of his wife he has made his home in North Dakota with his children part of the time

The funeral was held from the Lutheran church Thursday afternoon, Rev. Senne officiating. The church was filled with friends and old neighbors who came to pay their last respects to the departed.

He was a kind and indulgent father and the sympathy of all is extended to the bereaved family.

Joseph Kaufmann was born in Germany, August 26, 1834 and died June 3, 1917, at Hazleton, N. D. Came to America in 1854 and was married to Sophia Michael in 1862. They established their home in the vicinity of Alma, Wis., where they remained until 1905, when they removed to the vicinity of Ferney and shortly afterwards going to Hazleton, N. D., where Mrs. Kaufmann passed away in 1911.

Five children were born to this union: one son, Wm. Kaufmann, who resides in Wisconsin, and four daughters, Mrs. John Hoops, Ferney; Mrs. John Schoeniber and Mrs. A. E. Klabunde of Hazleton, N. D., and Mrs. Charley Dave, of Canada.

Mr. Kaufmann was in active service during the Civil war. – Contributed.
