Elton, 90, of Durand, passed away on Friday, at his home.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, November 15, 2011 at Watkins Brothers Funeral Homes, Durand Chapel.

Al was the son of Ernest and Laura (Finehout) Leix. He attended Millington High School, graduating in 1940 and then served his country faithfully in the Marines from 1942-1946, serving during World War II and being honorably discharged.

He married Addie M. Wells in Flint on June 14, 1947 and together raised 2 children. Al worked for AC Spark Plug for 15 years out of High School and then went on to work for Metropolitan Life Insurance Company, retiring in 1982.

Al was a life member of the Durand VFW Post 2272. He was also a member of the Metropolitan Veterans' Association and the Genesee Underwriters Association. He was an avid golfer, enjoyed fishing in the Gulf and dancing with Addie.

Mr. Leix is survived by his wife of 64 years, Addie; daughter, Linda Leix of Flint; son, Daniel Leix of Burton; 8 grandchildren: Tom (Annette) Mello, Courtney Mello, Lindsay Mello, Ross Mello, Lynn (Gary) Owens, Ryan Leix, Kristen Leix, Alyssa Leix; 6 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by 5 brothers and 4 sisters.
