World War I Victoria Cross Recipient. Born in London, England, he served as a Captain in the 1st Battalion, South Staffordshire Regiment, British Army. On November 7, 1914 at Zillebeke, Belgium, Captain Vallentin was leading his men in an attack against the German's trenches under very heavy fire. He was shot down as he and his men reached the German lines but rose up and continued to lead the attack. As he entered the enemy's trenches he was immediately killed, but his men succeeded in capturing all of the enemy's trenches. For most prestigious gallantry, he was posthumously awarded the Victoria Cross on February 16, 1916.
