LINCOLN, John F., "Bamps," 74, of Vinton, went to be with the Lord Monday, December 6, 1999. He was a World War II veteran, serving with the 4th Marine Division. He was a life member of the DAV, and retired from the U.S. Postal Service after 27 years of service. Mr. Lincoln was a friend to many of the members of Rosalind Hills Baptist Church. He was predeceased by his parents, Charles and Anna Kingston Lincoln; son, John Lincoln, Jr.; sister, Thelma Matherson; and his brothers, Walton and Gordon Lincoln. Surviving are his wife, Bonnie Amos Lincoln; daughters, Joyce A. Bower and husband, Jerry, Roanoke, Lou A. Clark and husband, David "Bill," Vinton; grandchildren, Jeffrey Wayne Bower, Melissa Ann Bower, David W. Clark, II, Greg Lincoln, John Lincoln, III, Jeffrey Davis Lincoln, and Jacquline Oliver; a number of great-grandchildren, including Alexandra Nicole Bower; sister, Barbara Johns, N. Wilkesboro, N.C.; numerous nieces and nephews; special friends, Kyle Grant, Roanoke and Marichen Sheppard, Moneta.
