Illustrator, Author. He was an illustrator for such publications as "The Saturday Evening Post", "Red Book", "Cosmopolitan", and "Collier's". He also did illustrations for many books by others, and for advertisements. He created the King Feature comic strip "Aladdin Junior." In 1950, he wrote the book "The Southern Part of Heaven," about his childhood in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. Today, many have used the book's title as a nickname for the city of Chapel Hill. In November of 1951, he died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. (bio by: Evening Blues)
