Voivoda of Moldova and Transylvania. Known as Radu V of Hagyak he was Lord of Wallachia from 1522 until his death. His short reign was marked by numerous conflicts including the bloody disputes with the descendants of Vlad the Impaler of the Draculesti dynasty, strongly aided by the powerful Suleiman the Magnificent, and with Vladislav III Danesti. His struggle for the maintenance of the throne had alternating phases between imprisonment among the Turks and recovery of power (1523-1528). Radu de Afumati died assassinated along with his son at the instigation of his rivals.
