He was born March 18, 1933 in Engadine, Michigan the son of Reinhart and Alma (Lentz) Matchinski and they moved to the Manistique area when he was 10 years old. He attended schools in Engadine and Hiawatha Township.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.
On December 6, 1958 he married Susan M. Aldrich in Manistique.
Lorry was formerly employed in building construction and was a member of the Laborers Union Local #1329. He was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church of Manistique . He enjoyed hunting, fishing and 4-wheeling.
He is survived by his wife, Susan of Manistique; sons: Larry (Tammy) Matchinski of Manistique, Jerry Matchinski of Rapid River, Ron (Faye) Matchinski of Manistique and John (Kelly) Matchinski of Manistique; 12 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; brother, Leonard (Patricia) Matchinski of Kalamazoo, MI; sisters, Arlene (Aubry) Wages of St. Augustine, FL and Carol (Gus) Gustafson of Winchester, TN and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, Charles Matchinski and grandson, Dirk Matchinski.
Graveside services, with veterans' honors, will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Monday, November 28, 2011 at the Hiawatha Township Cemetery in Hiawatha Township with Reverend David Hueter officiating.
