Henry Herman Stude died suddenly last week, Thursday. He was in good health and his death was a shock to the family and community. He was in the yard near the house when he was seen falling by one of his daughters but by the time they came to him, life was extinct.
Mr. Stude was born December 3, 1842 (tombstone shows Dec 8), in Lippe Detmold, Germany, and came to America with his mother when about nine years old when his mother settled on the Meyer farm near Owensville. After growing to manhood he purchased the farm on which he lived for some fifty years. Mr. Stude is well known in the south part of Gasconade county and with his demise the community loses one of its most respected citizens.
He was married in 1868 to Miss Magdeline Aufder Heide, who preceded him in death. To this union were born ten children. He leaves to mourn his son, Charles Stude, who lives on the Stude farm; August Stude of Wooliam, Mrs. Theo. Roethemeyer of Owensville Route 1; Mrs. William Kraftzeck and Mrs. Fred Ritterbusch of Wooliam; and Misses Mathilda, Lydia and Malinda Stude who are all at home. One of the children died in infancy and one at the age of 16 years. He also leaves a brother, Wm. Stude, of Stafford, Kansas; and three sisters, Mrs. Mary Meyer of Alexandria, Nebraska; Mrs. Aug. Moelling of Lucien, Oklahoma, and Mrs. John Bartel of near Strain, Missouri.
The funeral services were held last Sunday at 10:00 a.m. at the house from which the remains were taken to the Presbyterian church cemetery near Drake. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. G. K. Widmayer.
