Indian Campaigns Medal of Honor Recipient. He served as a Sergeant in the United States Army. He was awarded the Medal of Honor as a Private in Company E, 7th US Infantry for action on July 9, 1876 at Big Horn, Montana. His citation reads "Carried dispatches to Gen. Crook at the imminent risk of his life."
