Laurie was a Find A Grave member. In the forums, she was known as Old_Chick. She was born in Minnesota on December 31, 1949 to Stella (McDonald) and Maynard Colebank and was their only child.

A memory she shared about growing up there was that as a child she loved the local [Minneapolis/St.Paul] television show "Axel and His Dog." In her own words:

I remember coming home from school every day and watching Axel. I used to feel that he and Towser picked on Tallulah too much -- so I wrote him a letter and told him so -- which Tallulah read on the air. I was absolutely thrilled, and I guess it was my 15 minutes of fame. Axel also appeared at our neighborhood Cloverleaf Dairy, and all the kids in the neighborhood (including myself) rushed to get a glimpse of this television celebrity! It was great!!

She graduated from Farmington Senior High School in the late 1960s, got married in the late 1970s and moved to Florida in the early 1980s. After living there for 18 years, she moved back to Minnesota (circa 2000) and worked for State Farm Insurance until 2006. From then she worked as an Insurance Specialist for C.H. Robinson Worldwide. She loved flea markets and her favorite hobby was antiquing. She also loved her cats, two of whom are memorialized on Find A Grave, Burkie and Jesse. I believe her favorite quote was:

"Until one has loved an animal, a part of one's soul remains unawakened." - Anatole France

On her mother's memorial, she wrote, "how sad such an amazing person is reduced to a few lines on a piece of stone." I've tried with this memorial to make sure that Laurie is remembered for who she was — a woman with a loving heart and a glowing smile.
