John L. Szeligo, age 88 of Little Grave Road, Glen Dale, died Friday, March 16, 2007 at Mound View Health Care Center, Moundsville.

He was born June 19, 1918 in Benwood, WV the son of the late Frank and Mary Preskop Szeligo.

He was a retired employee from Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel, Benwood; a member and past president of the F.O. Eagles #499, member of the Earl Francis Post #3 American Legion, Moundsville VFW Post #437, the Polish Lodge of Wheeling and St. Jude Catholic Church, Glen Dale. John was an Air Force veteran of WWII.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife: Betty Szeligo in 1969.

Survivors include his wife: Irene Szeligo; one son: John (Fran) Szeligo of Wauchula, FL; two brothers: Chester Szeligo of Wheeling and Walter Szeligo of Akron, OH; three sisters: Rose Pupura of Benwood, Mary Ann Rzepka of Newton Falls, OH and Dorothy Mathys of McMechen; one granddaughter: Betty B. Szeligo of Wauchula, FL ; a step-daughter: Terri Ann Davis of Columbus, OH and a step-son: Leonard Linzy of Glen Dale.

Graveside Services were held on Monday at 10:30am at Mt. Calvary Cemetery Chapel, Wheeling with Rev. Thomas E. Schiffer officiating.
