Dean of Ely Cathedral. Also known as Henry Adelmare, he was the fifth and youngest son of Giulio Cesare Adelmare, making him a member of an illustrious four hundred year old Venetian family. After education at Balliol College in Oxford, and later at St. Edmund Hall, in 1583 he assumed the duties of vicar of Cornwall. He received his Doctor of Divinity from Oxford in 1595. After serving as rector in London for two years, he assumed the same duties in Huntingdonshire. He was appointed as second canon at Westminster in 1609 and became Dean of Ely in 1615. He resigned in 1625. His estate earmarked money for fellowships and scholarships for students of the Ely School.
